Fisher selected Motorola Coach of the Week

Jeff Fisher of the Tennessee Titans is the Motorola NFL Coach of the Week for games played on Dec. 18–22, the NFL announced Friday.

The Titans defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers 31-14 on Sunday to secure home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs. The Titans' offense netted 323 yards, with QB Kerry Collins completing 20 of 29 passes for 216 yards and one touchdown. Rookie DT Jason Jones sacked Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger 3.5 times, and Tennessee converted four Pittsburgh turnovers into 21 points.

Voters on NFL.com selected Fisher as Motorola NFL Coach of the Week from among three finalists. The other finalists were New York Giants coach Tom Coughlin and Seattle Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren.

In January, voting will be held on NFL.com to determine the Motorola NFL Coach of the Year.

Coughlin's Giants defeated the Carolina Panthers 34-28 in overtime on Sunday Night Football to clinch NFC home-field advantage and a first-round bye in the playoffs. The Giants were propelled by RBs Derrick Ward and Brandon Jacobs, who gained 302 of the team's 459 total offensive yards. QB Eli Manning completed 17 of 27 passes for 181 yards and one touchdown, and the Giants controlled the ball for over 39 minutes.

In his last game at Qwest Field as the Seahawks' head coach, Holmgren crafted a game plan that led his team to a 13-3 victory over the New York Jets. Seahawks QB Seneca Wallace completed 18 of 25 passes for 175 yards and one touchdown as the Seahawks gained 295 yards in the snow. Seahawks CB Josh Wilson intercepted Jets QB Brett Favre twice and sacked him once.
