The Loucheiz Purifoy experiment begins in earnest this week.
The Florida Gators' standout cornerback, and the No. 24 pro prospect in the college game according to NFL.com's Daniel Jeremiah, will begin work at wide receiver in fall camp:
It's been no secret since the end of spring practice that Purifoy would get a chance to bolster a Florida receiving corps that has been mediocre at best since coach Will Muschamp inherited the program. The Gators, rife with talent at cornerback, have a secondary capable of playing good defense without Purifoy. Quarterback Jeff Driskel and the receiving corps, by contrast, could do nothing but benefit from an athlete like Purifoy operating on offense. The loss of wide receiver Andre Debose for the season to an injury only makes Purifoy's move to offense even more sensible.
Purifoy spent the first 10 days of fall camp re-establishing his play at cornerback, where he is a strong All-SEC candidate.
That is, if he ends up playing defense at all.
