Chalk up yet another starter lost for the season to injury for the Florida Gators, but this time, the circumstances aren't even football-related. Starting offensive lineman Tyler Moore reportedly broke his arm in a scooter accident Tuesday night, according to John C. Cotey of tampabay.com. Shortly after the news broke, orlandosentinel.com published this account, indicating Moore would not return this season.
Moore reportedly lost control of the vehicle on a wet sidewalk, and underwent surgery Wednesday morning. Moore is the ninth UF player to be lost for the season this year, including quarterback Jeff Driskel, running back Matt Jones, and defensive tackle Dominique Easley. Another starter on the offensive line, D.J. Humphries, is expected to miss Saturday's game against Vanderbilt with a knee sprain.
College football programs might be wise to slip a no-motorized-two-wheeler clause into scholarship agreements. Moore's accident isn't the first, or even the second, such wreck to injure a player this year. Louisville's Lorenzo Mauldin was hurt in a similar accident on a moped just before the season began. As well, Florida State's Nick O'Leary had a harrowing motorcycle crash in July.
