Florida State is down to two scholarship tight ends with the news that sophomore Christo Kourtzidis plans to transfer.
Kourtzidis (6-feet-4, 235 pounds) played in eight games last season, with one start, and had one reception. Kourtzidis, from the Los Angeles area, had shoulder surgery during the spring and likely would've missed part of the season anyway. His decision first was reported by warchant.com.
The two scholarship tight ends left on the roster are junior Nick O'Leary and true freshman Jeremy Kerr, known as a good blocker but questionable receiver.
O'Leary's presence was big on the internet this week after video surfaced of him surviving a horrific motorcycle accident.
Kevin Haplea, who transferred from Penn State last summer, would've been the No. 2 guy, but he suffered a severe knee injury last month and will miss the season.
Florida State is deep at wide receiver, and sophomore WR Kelvin Benjamin (6-5, 238) now might be used some as a receiving tight end.
