Cincinnati Bengals running back Brian Leonard confirmed Wednesday night that team doctors have told him he has no broken bones or torn ligaments in his injured left foot. Doctors termed the injury a mid-foot sprain, meaning it is possible Leonard will return to the field this season.
“I’ll be back this season. It will be a little bit of time,” Leonard told the Cincinnati Enquirer. “I’ll be back pretty much when I feel good and ready to go. They don’t have a time frame set. Its how you feel and that’s what I’m going to base it off of."
Leonard was injured during Sunday's 16-7 loss to the Dallas Cowboys during the Hall of Fame Game, and it was feared he had sustained a Lisfranc injury, which would have been career-threatening.
