Frank Gore to be inducted into 49ers' Hall of Fame in Week 1

Frank Gore has been named the newest member of the San Francisco 49ers' Hall of Fame and will be honored during the team’s Week 1 game against the New York Jets at Levi’s Stadium, the team announced Thursday.

Gore was a five-time Pro Bowl selection for the 49ers, playing 10 of his 16 NFL seasons in San Francisco. He also spent three seasons with the Colts and one each with the Dolphins, Bills and Jets before retiring in 2022.

Gore finished his brilliant career with 16,000 rushing yards, which is the third-most in league history, behind only Emmitt Smith and Walter Payton, and his 11,073 rushing yards with the 49ers are the most in franchise history. Gore also finished his career with 99 total touchdowns and 19,985 yards from scrimmage.

The former third-round pick out of Miami is also one of the franchise’s most beloved players in recent generations and a member of the club’s vaunted 10-year club, which honors all 49ers players who spent a decade or more there in their careers. Gore was a two-time recipient of the 49ers’ Bill Walsh Award, given annually to the player that best represents the standard of professional excellence established by Walsh, winning it in 2006 and 2010.
