Buffalo Bills running back Fred Jackson will be out for the rest of the season and likely be put on the injured reserve after taking a helmet to the knee during Sunday's 15-12 loss to the St. Louis Rams, coach Chan Gailey said Monday.
It was reported earlier that Jackson would miss two to three weeks.
Jackson was injured with just over five minutes remaining in the fourth quarter of Sunday's loss. After the game, Gailey told reporters that Jackson's injury "did not look good."
Jackson already has missed three games this season because of injuries -- two with a knee injury and one after he suffered a concussion.
Gailey said the loss of Jackson will mean dynamic running back C.J. Spiller would see more touches -- something that should make him happier. Tashard Choice will spell Spiller when needed, Gailey said.
