Hall of Fame quarterback Warren Moon is advising Cam Newton while the Auburn star tries to impress teams ahead of next month's NFL draft.

Now Moon is ready to give new Tennessee Titans coach Mike Munchak, his former Houston Oilers teammate, some advice: Draft Newton, if you can.
"I first wanted to give Munch time to get his staff together and get his philosophy set. I know he's been busy," Moon told the *Tennessean* on Thursday. "But I think now it's about time I reach out to him and let him in on Cam.
"Now I have no idea what Mike is thinking as far as where he wants to go, but I know they don't have a (quarterback) right now and I know this guy is going to be special," Moon added. "I'm just going to tell him what I know as he tries to make his decision."
The Titans, who own the eighth overall draft pick, definitely have a decision to make at quarterback. They plan to trade or release former first-round draft pick Vince Young, and 38-year-old Kerry Collins will be an unrestricted free agent, leaving them with unproven Rusty Smith, Brett Ratliff and journeyman Chris Simms at the position.
A league source told NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora that Newton, the 2010 Heisman Trophy winner and BCS national champion, is scheduled to have a private workout with the Titans. Newton also will work out for the Carolina Panthers, Buffalo Bills, Minnesota Vikings, Washington Redskins, Miami Dolphins, Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns.
Moon hopes his relationship with Munchak, a Hall of Fame guard who protected the quarterback from 1984 to 1993, will help Newton's cause in Tennessee.
"I think Munch respects me, and I think he respects my opinion, and I think he would feel like I wouldn't associate myself with somebody unless I really felt like they had a chance to be good or great," Moon said. "There are a lot of other guys I could probably work with, but this guy is special.
"I am probably not as athletic as Cam is, and I am not as tall as he is. But in my younger days, I had all the escapability he has that made me successful with my versatility. So it didn't matter what offense I went in to or team I went to, I was able to adapt to that system. And that is what he is going to be able to do. I had the strong arm, and he does as well. ... And he's a highly intelligent kid who understands football."
