Ramik Wilson, the SEC's leading tackler in 2013, will come back to Georgia for another season.
The Bulldogs' junior linebacker told reporters prior to UGA's practice in preparation for the Gator Bowl that he's decided another year in school would be the right move.
"It was just nice to think about. I'm blessed to have the opportunity," Wilson said, according to dawgs247.com. "I was just enjoying the moment, like 'The dream is coming true. I have a chance to get drafted and all that.' But school is more important. I need my degree at the end of the day."
Wilson made 128 stops for an inconsistent Bulldogs defense to beat out teammate Amarlo Herrera (107) and Tennessee's A.J. Johnson (106), who also is considering an early jump to the NFL, for the league lead.
"Ramik had a tremendous year, but I think he knows that he can get better. I think that's a good sign for Georgia," said Bulldogs coach Mark Richt.
Georgia defensive end Ray Drew may be the only Bulldog even giving a little thought to entering the draft early. Drew has applied for feedback from the NFL's advisory board, but Richt reiterated Saturday that he knows of no player considering the move seriously.
