Giants running back Brandon Jacobs said Tuesday that Jets wide receiver -- and former Giant -- Plaxico Burress would rather have played for the Giants this season instead of the Jets. Jacobs even raised the possibility that Burress could rejoin the G-men in 2012.
"I know he wanted to come to the Giants. We just didn't think it was going to be able to be done financially. But he may be (back) next year, who knows?" Jacobs said during Tuesday's Super Bowl media day in Indianapolis, according to ESPN.
After serving a 20-month prison term for illegally possessing a firearm, Burress signed a one-year contract with the Jets last summer. The 35-year-old had 45 receptions for 612 yards and eight touchdowns.
"I don't see him back with the Jets next year at all," Jacobs said. "I don't know what he's thinking, but I don't see that. They've got a lot of things going on over there, and I don't know if he wants to be part of that."
The Giants' bruising back said he still talks with Burress regularly, and added that Burress would be attending Sunday's Super Bowl.
"Yes, he will be here," Jacobs said. "I do know that. He will be here."
