Around this time last offseason Jason Pierre-Paulunderwent back surgery that would ultimately hinder his production in 2013.
JPP earned just two sacks and 20 tackles last season before being shut down for the final five games with a shoulder injury.
The defensive end says he isn't deterred by those troubles in 2014, indicating that he is 100 percent "healthy and ready to go."
New York Giants coach Tom Coughlintook issue with JPP's weight last offseason. This year, the 25-year-old Pierre-Paul is back down to 275 pounds and believes he can get back to his 16.5 sack performance of 2011.
"I already feel like it," he said, per the New York Post. "My weight's good, I'm out there running and nothing's bothering me so I'm in pretty good shape.''
The next hurdle for Pierre-Paul will be getting used to life without his running mates. In 2012 Osi Umenyiora left and this offseason the Giants let Justin Tuck walk, leaving JPP as the main horse in the stable.
Coming off a down season, the 6-foot-5 pass rusher isn't worried about being without that veteran presence.
"I don't feel pressure at all,'' Pierre-Paul said. "I'm ready to get out there and do what I do best, sack the quarterback and stop the run. I'm ready to get out there and show everybody.''
