GMC Never Say Never Moment: EJ Manuel

The NFL announced Friday that the fans selected Buffalo Bills rookie quarterback EJ Manuel for the GMC Never Say Never Moment of the Week.

NEVER SAY NEVER MOMENT NOMINEES

Jay Cutler, Chicago Bears

Cutler overcomes turnovers to lead comeback: For the second consecutive week, the Chicago Bears refused to let a late-game deficit deny their desire for victory. Down 30-24 with three minutes remaining, quarterback Jay Cutler led the Bears on a 66-yard drive that was capped by a touchdown pass to Martellus Bennett for the decisive score in a 31-30 triumph over the visiting Minnesota Vikings. Cutler managed to collect himself late and direct that winning drive despite turning the ball over three times, twice on interceptions and once on a fumble.

EJ Manuel, Buffalo Bills

Rookie rallies Bills to last-second win: In just his second NFL start, Buffalo Bills quarterback EJ Manuel directed an 80-yard drive in the game's final 1:38 to give his team a stunning 24-23 win over the Carolina Panthers. The winning drive culminated with a touchdown pass from Manuel to receiver Steve Johnson with six seconds remaining. With that effort, Manuel became just the fifth NFL rookie since 1960 to engineer a fourth-quarter comeback in his first or second game. It also eased the pain of squandering a late-game lead in a season-opening loss to the New England Patriots.

Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints

Brees shrugs off weather delay and pick six: After experiencing a 69-minute weather delay because of lightning, New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees was hampered by two interceptions, including one returned by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for a go-ahead score. After the Buccaneers missed a field goal, the Saints took advantage of a final opportunity to snatch victory on the road. Brees completed three consecutive passes to direct the New Orleans Saints 54 yards in the game's final minute to put kicker Garrett Hartley in position for the game-winning 27-yard field-goal as time expired in a 16-14 win.
