New York Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks spoke with the media Thursday for the first time since breaking his foot last week, and it's no surprise he's confident he'll be back for the team's Sept. 5 season opener against the Dallas Cowboys.

"I don't have any doubt," Nicks said.
There have been competing reports regarding when Nicks will be back. One estimate said six weeks. The Giants said 12 weeks and that Nicks was "overly optimistic." Nicks will listen to the Giants.
"We just don't want any setbacks," Nicks said. "We're going to take it 12 weeks, that's what their giving us. But my goal is to always come back early."
Nicks currently is in Charlotte, N.C., wearing a walking boot and will return to the team next week. Considering the timing of the injury and the depth the Giants have at receiver, the team shouldn't be too worried.
