Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart exited Sunday's blowout win over the Falcons early with a sprained foot, and according to reports out of Charlotte on Wednesday, he was not on the field during the portion of practice open to the media.
If Stewart plays again during the regular season he is an absolute lock to top 1,000 yards for the first time since 2009. He's averaging more than four yards per carry.
In the meantime, look for a heavier dose of Fozzy Whittaker. We could even see rookie Cameron Artis-Payne dressing for Carolina on Sunday. The Panthers got good news regarding cornerback Charles Tillman, who has a partially-torn ACL. He was a full participant in practice.
- Colts quarterback Andrew Luckreturned to practice, participating in limited individual drills. He won't play Sunday against the Texans. Luck suffered a lacerated kidney Nov. 8. Matt Hasselbeck (bruised ribs) -- who has started in Luck's absence -- was not at practice, but coach Chuck Pagano expects him to play.
- The Bills placed cornerback Stephon Gilmore on injured reserve with a torn labrum.
- Jaguars running back T.J. Yeldon said he sprained his MCL, and coach Gus Bradley described him as day-to-day. "I've seen him really progress," Bradley said. NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Yeldon might not play against the Falcons on Sunday.
Wideout Allen Hurns (thigh) also didn't practice. Linebacker link-placeholder-1 was a full participant.
- Texans quarterback Brian Hoyer will not play Sunday against the Colts due to still being in the concussion protocol, coach Bill O'Brien said. T.J. Yates is the starting quarterback.
- Chiefs linebacker Justin Houston was set to visit Dr. James Andrews regarding his knee injury, NFL Media's Rand Getlin reported, via a source briefed. There is some fear he'll miss the rest of the regular season.
- Broncos running back C.J. Anderson (ankle) didn't practice but coach Gary Kubiak expects him to play Sunday.
- Falcons tight end Jacob Tamme (back) was limited.
- Chargers offensive tackle King Dunlap (ankle) and wideout Stevie Johnson (groin) both did not practice.
- Dolphins linebacker Jelani Jenkins (ankle) didn't practice. Wideouts Jarvis Landry (knee) and Rishard Matthews (ribs) were limited, as well as running back Lamar Miller (ankle).
- Ravens QB Matt Schaub (chest) and G Kelechi Osemele (knee) were limited in practice for Baltimore. Tight end Crockett Gillmore (back) and right guard Marshal Yanda (ankle) both missed practice.
- Niners LB Aaron Lynch (concussion) and TE Vance McDonald (concussion) were limited on Wednesday.
- The Raiders sat out Khalil Mack (knee) and Amari Cooper (foot) for precautionary reasons on Wednesday.
- Seahawks S Kam Chancellor (pelvis) and DE Michael Bennett (toe) did not practice for Seattle.
- Colts WR Donte Moncrief missed practice on Wednesday due to a foot injury. Moncrief was in a walking boot.
