Will the Bengals face the Colts minus the services of A.J. Green?
The Pro Bowl wideout continues to nurse the head injury he suffered in Sunday night's loss to Pittsburgh after taking a shot in the fourth quarter from Steelers safety Mike Mitchell.
"A.J. is doing fine," Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said Wednesday. "He's doing the concussion protocol."
The wideout did not participate in practice for Cincinnati on Wednesday.
If Green is unable to play in Sunday's wild-card matchup with the Colts, it will mark the second time this season that the pass-catcher has been sidelined against Indianapolis. The Bengals faced a steady stream of eight-man fronts in a 27-0 loss to the Colts back in Week 7, a game that saw Indy shut down Cincy's pass-catching trio of Dane Sanzenbacher, Brandon Tate and Mohamed Sanu.
We don't expect the same to happen Sunday -- not with the rise of Jeremy Hill -- but losing Green would damage the Bengals' chances of hanging with Andrew Luck in a shootout.
Here are some other injuries that we are tracking:
- Tony Romo took his usual Wednesday practice off. The Cowboys also practiced without Doug Free (ankle), C.J. Spillman (groin), Nick Hayden (shoulder) and Anthony Hitchens (ankle), per the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Dallas linebacker Rolando McClain (knee) was listed as limited in practice. McClain is also fighting the flu.
- Colts coach Chuck Pagano told reporters center A.Q. Shipley (ankle), return specialist Josh Cribbs (rest) and offensive guard Hugh Thornton (shoulder) did not practice Wednesday. Offensive tackle Gosder Cherilus (groin) and wide receiver Reggie Wayne (groin) were both limited.
