The Denver Broncos could get back a big piece of their linebacking puzzle for Sunday's tussle with the Indianapolis Colts.
Brandon Marshall was at practice Monday and working on drills, per the team's official website, after missing the final two games of the season with a mid-foot sprain.
Getting Marshall back on the practice field in any capacity is a good sign for the Broncos who are already without Danny Trevathan (injured reserve, knee) on the second level.
Marshall was quietly one of the studs on a revamped Broncos defense -- ranking No. 4 overall in Pro Football Focus' rating of 4-3 outside linebackers. Getting him back will be a huge boost in coverage against Colts tight ends Dwayne Allen and Coby Fleener.
Some other injury news we are following Monday:
- Peyton Manning also returned to practice after resting during the bye week.
- Broncos safety T.J. Ward also was practicing after missing Week 17 with a neck injury. Offensive lineman Orlando Franklin remains in post-concussion protocol.
- Panthers rookie receiver Philly Brown is considered day to day after subluxing his shoulder in Saturday's Wild Card win. His playing status may come down to his pain tolerance, the team announced.
- Ravens coach John Harbaugh said that Eugene Monroe (ankle) and Timmy Jernigan (foot) will likely practice on Tuesday.
- Mike McCarthy believes that Aaron Rodgers (calf) will be in "pretty good shape" when the Packers face the Cowboys on Sunday.
- NFL Media's Jeff Darlington reported that Nate Solder (knee), Dan Connolly (knee) and Sebastian Vollmer (back) will practice for the Patriots on Tuesday.
