The iron man of the Oakland Raiders' offensive line is hurting.
Left tackle Donald Penn was missing at practice Thursday with a knee injury. Penn didn't practice Wednesday either.
With quarterback Derek Carr missing from the lineup due to a broken fibula, having their core offensive line intact would be big in helping rookie Connor Cook make his first NFL start.
Penn had only allowed one sack all year -- ironically it was the sack to Colts linebacker Trent Cole that resulted in Carr's injury. If Penn is unable to play and protect Cook's blind side and help pave holes for the run game, the Raiders could be in more trouble than they already are.
Penn hasn't missed a game in his entire 10-year career.
Wide receivers Amari Cooper (shoulder) and Michael Crabtree (ankle) were both limited, as was offensive lineman Kelechi Osemele (ankle) and linebacker Malcolm Smith (hamstring).
Here is some other injury news as we head into the playoffs:
- Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill (sprained MCL/ACL) won't play Sunday against the Steelers.
Cornerback Byron Maxwell is unlikely to play for Miami after missing practice with an ankle injury. The Dolphins are optimistic linebacker Jelani Jenkins (knee) and safety Bacarri Rambo (chest) will play.
- Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul (core muscle) did not practice, while cornerback* Janoris Jenkins* (back) and safety Nat Berhe (concussion) were limited.
- Packers wideout Randall Cobb (ankle) was limited, along with guard T.J. Lang (foot), linebacker Nick Perry (hand), and offensive tackle Bryan Bulaga (abdomen).
- Lions linebacker DeAndre Levy (knee) was limited in practice.
- Texans safety Quintin Demps (hamstring) was limited. Guard Jeff Allen (ankle) was a full participant after being limited.
