The New York Giants are holding their breath as they await news on their star pass-rusher.
Jason Pierre-Paul is visiting surgeon William Meyers in Philadelphia on Tuesday to evaluate his groin injury, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported. Meyers is a core-muscle specialist.
Garafolo reported on NFL Network's Up to the Minute Live on Tuesday afternoon that if Pierre-Paul were to require surgery, he'd be looking at somewhere around a four to six week recovery. The hope is that Meyers would look at Pierre-Paul's injury and say it is something he could play through.
Pierre-Paul left Sunday's 24-14 loss to the Steelers late in the second quarter and didn't return. He said after the game that the injury didn't concern him, but it's not a good sign he is visiting a specialist.
Pierre-Paul has delivered a monster season for the Giants this year and is a big reason they are in the driver's seat for a NFC wild card spot. He's a contender for Comeback Player of the Year. It would be a big blow if he were to miss any significant amount of time down the stretch.
Here are some other injuries we are tracking on Tuesday:
- Broncos quarterback Trevor Siemianditched the walking boot on his sprained foot Monday and could play Sunday against the Titans. "I'm making some progress, getting better everyday," Siemian said Tuesday on Denver KDSP-AM.
- Steelers kicker Chris Boswell will kick if he's healthy, coach Mike Tomlin said. Safety Shamarko Thomas and defensive tackle Javon Hargrave are in the concussion protocol.
- Lions defensive end Armonty Bryant (knee) and cornerback Quandre Diggs (pectoral) were placed on injured reserve. The team resigned well-traveled veteran running back Joique Bell.
- Cowboys defensive end Randy Gregory is not expected to return to practice Wednesday, NFL Network's Jane Slater reports. He is not eligible to play until Week 16, Slater adds. Gregory is currently appealing his suspension for violating the NFL's Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse.
- Buccaneers wideout Cecil Shorts was placed on injured reserve after sustaining a knee injury Sunday. The Bucs called up former Eagles wideout Josh Huff to the active roster from the practice squad.
- The Seahawksannounced they've placedEarl Thomas on injured reserve. Thomas suffered a fractured tibia in Sunday night's win over the Panthers.
