Injury roundup: LaMarr Woodley out for Steelers

It's Wednesday, which means we got our first look at this week's injury report. Here were our big takeaways:

  1. The Pittsburgh Steelers will be without LaMarr Woodley against the Tennessee Titans on Thursday night. The veteran linebacker is battling a hamstring injury that forced him out of Sunday's win over the Philadelphia Eagles. Steelers safety Troy Polamalu also is out with the nagging right calf injury that has shelved him for three games this season.
  1. Titans wide receiver Kenny Britt fully practiced Wednesday and is probable for Thursday night's game against the Steelers. Britt missed Week 4 with an ankle injury, but he returned last week to catch two passes against the Minnesota Vikings.
  1. Rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III was back at practice with the Washington Redskins on Wednesday, three days after he suffered a concussion against the Atlanta Falcons. He hasn't been cleared for contact, but he said there was "never a doubt" about playing Sunday against the Vikings.
  1. Indianapolis Colts running back Donald Brown will miss two to three weeks after tearing cartilage in his knee. Linebacker Robert Mathis also will miss two to three weeks with what the team labeled a sprained knee.
  1. Running back Cedric Benson (foot) was placed on injured reserve Wednesday by the Green Bay Packers, but he received the designated to return tag. He's eligible to play in Week 14 against the Detroit Lions.

  1. Carolina Panthers center Ryan Kalil suffered a Lisfranc injury against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday and was placed on season-ending injured reserve.
  1. Nick Mangold (ankle) didn't practice Wednesday, but New York Jets coach Rex Ryan is "hopeful" his All-Pro center will play Sunday against the ColtsKenrick Ellis confirmed he has a sprained medial collateral ligament, and the nose tackle will be out a minimum of two to three weeks and possibly up to four to six weeks, according to CBSSports.com. Receiver Stephen Hill (hamstring) and tight end Dustin Keller (hamstring) practiced on a limited basis.
  1. Cleveland Browns linebacker D'Qwell Jackson missed practice after suffering a head injury during Sunday's loss to the New York Giants.
  1. Baltimore Ravens defensive tackle Haloti Ngata (shoulder) was limited in Wednesday's practice. He's expected to play in Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys.
  1. Peyton Hillis (ankle) didn't practice Wednesday, but Kansas City Chiefs coach Romeo Crennel said his running back will start doing more in the coming days. Hillis hasn't played since a Week 3 win over the New Orleans Saints.
  1. Vikings running back Adrian Peterson (ankle) was held out of Wednesday's practice, but coach Leslie Frazier already has said his star player will be good to go against the Redskins.
