» Bill Belichick is known for his robotic lines during press conferences, but the Patriots coach opened up Tuesday about his former player and NFL Network's Willie McGinest.
"A versatile player, but a great, very competitive guy," Belichick said. "Tough, team-oriented. Winning was really important to him, winning more than personal stats. He took losing hard, and that's a good thing. A great example for younger players. He had that kind of nice balance of being able to talk to a guy, but also you could watch him do it and (he would) set a good example, too. He had a good rapport with his teammates."
McGinest will be inducted into the Patriots' Hall of Fame on Wednesday. Belichick reflected on how McGinest "killed the Colts" and said, "Nobody would mess with Willie. Nobody."
The three-time Super Bowl champion McGinest also addressed the media and recalled one of his favorite plays with New England.
"I think the play in the Super Bowl 2001 when I held Marshall Faulk and got the penalty and then I came back later and got the sack and knocked them out of the field goal range."
» Buccaneer rookie quarterback Jameis Winston showed flashes of the skills he had in college in Tuesday's practice, NFL Network's Charley Casserly reported. He saw Winston's arm strength and his ability to get the ball out quick with some authority. Casserly said the two areas Winston needs to work on are not over striding and not dropping the ball before he releases it.

Brian Billick said on Inside Training Camp Live the Browns don't have the right weapons on offense to utilize Johnny Football and prefer to go the safe route with McCown. Daniel Jeremiah added Manziel could see action out of the shotgun formation, which best served the young signal-caller at Texas A&M.
» NFL Media's Jeff Darlington reported out of Dolphins camp and provided an update on the mutual interest between free-agent guard Evan Mathis and Miami. The Dolphins, who have question marks at both guard positions, would like to bring Mathis in, but at the right price. According to Darlington, the Dolphins haven't been impressed by their current guards and might have to agree to Mathis' high price for this big make-or-break season looming in South Beach.
» NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Falcons executives and Julio Jones' agent have had ongoing talks about a new deal for the wide receiver. No timetable, however, on when they'll agree on an extension.
» Life is good for the soon-to-be-paid Jones who has rookie wideout Justin Hardy carrying around his shoulder pads. Hardy isn't complaining, saying he's thankful for the opportunity on Instagram.
» Colts coach Chuck Pagano supported a fellow AFC rival player during practice on Tuesday. Rapoport posted a picture of Pagano sporting a ChiefsEric Berry shirt jersey.
