When college football players are declared academically ineligible, transfers frequently follow.
In the case of Kentucky's J.D. Harmon, however, it appears the Wildcats are only losing him for the season. Several days ago, the news that Harmon would be out for the season with academic woes left a questionable UK secondary in even more questionable shape.
But it looks like Harmon will at least be part of the program this fall and work toward regaining his eligibility at Kentucky, rather than finding a new school.
The sophomore led the Wildcats with two interceptions last fall despite making only three starts on the season. New UK coach Mark Stoops, who brings a defensive coaching background to Lexington, is patching together a secondary with little to no experience in fall camp. Minus Harmon, footballnation.com reports, the Wildcats have not a single returning player with an interception in his college career.
