While the New York Jetsreportedly covetJeremy Maclin in free agency, the sixth-year pro receiver has his heart set on returning to the Philadelphia Eagles.
"I know everything's going to work out how it's supposed to work out," Maclin told the Philadelphia Inquirer's Zach Berman on Saturday. "This is where I want to be and the Eagles stated the same."
Maclin still is rehabbing the torn ACL he suffered in late July. The receiver acknowledged that his knee won't be fully healthy when free agency launches on March 11, but said he'll be full-go for training camp.
Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reported last week that the Jets view Maclin as a "quality No. 1 receiver," but the Eagles and the pass-catcher have expressed mutual interest in a new deal. The Kansas City Star also expects the Chiefs to come after Maclin, who said last month that he's open to a one-year deal.
If Denver's Eric Decker sits atop this year's class of free-agent wideouts, Maclin occupies the next realm of available talent along with names like Golden Tate, Hakeem Nicks, Julian Edelman and Emmanuel Sanders. Also in this group sits Riley Cooper, who shined for Philadelphia this past season.
Faced with decisions to make on Cooper and Maclin, Eagles general manager Howie Roseman said this month that "it's a complicated situation, but we've never ruled out bringing both of those guys back."
Either way, Maclin won't be out of work for long.
