Jets LB Pace plans to appeal $15K fine for hit on Eagles' Vick

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- New York Jets linebacker Calvin Pace has been fined $15,000 by the NFL for an illegal hit on Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick last Sunday.

Pace slammed into Vick as he threw a 26-yard touchdown to Brent Celek in the Eagles' 45-19 victory, and was called for a 15-yard roughing-the-passer penalty. Pace told reporters Thursday he planned to appeal the fine. He told ESPNNewYork.com that he didn't read the letter sent to him from the league. "I saw $15,000 and threw it in the trash," Pace told the website.

Jets coach Rex Ryan wouldn't comment on the fine, saying only that he's "not the expert there."

Pace, in his fourth season with the Jets, is third on the team with 81 tackles and has 4.5 sacks.
