The New York Jets are keeping their MVP on board.
Jamien Sherwood is re-signing with the Jets on a three-year, $45 million deal, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Sunday, per sources.
A highlight amid a trying 5-12 Jets season, Sherwood was voted Gang Green’s team MVP after posting a career-high 158 tackles and a league-high 98 solo tackles.
Sherwood’s breakout season -- one that landed him at No. 31 on Gregg Rosenthal’s Top 101 free agents -- helped him break the bank. The Jets are also following a developing trend of teams locking up their off-ball linebackers ahead of free agency.
Sherwood’s signing follows Zack Baun staying with the Philadelphia Eagles, Nick Bolton remaining with the Kansas City Chiefs and Ernest Jones agreeing to stick with the Seattle Seahawks.
Though the 2024 campaign was a difficult one for the Jets, they’re bringing back one of the bright spots, as Sherwood, a 25-year-old 2021 fifth-round pick, is returning and on the rise.
