Jets WR Davante Adams becomes 12th player to reach 100 career TD catches

Davante Adams, at least for one more Sunday, rekindled his exceptional connection with Aaron Rodgers to a historic degree.

Adams hooked up with Rodgers in the third quarter of the New York Jets’ 32-25 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars for the the six-time Pro Bowl receiver's landmark 100th touchdown catch of his career.

A play frequently seen throughout their time together, Rodgers found Adams on a goal-line fade from the 1-yard line to give the Jets a 17-16 lead following Anders Carlson's extra point.

"It was good to be able to get in there," Adams said of the TD. "My teammates were gassing me up all week about it. I think they were probably more excited about it than I was, which is obviously a great thing."

That was just the start of Adams' massive afternoon. The Jets receiver finished with nine receptions for 198 yards and two go-ahead scores, all coming in the second half of Gang Green's back-and-forth bout in Duval.

Adams is only the 12th player in NFL history to hit the 100-TD milestone, though he’s the second this season following the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Mike Evans accomplishing the feat in Week 7.

Adams passed Hall of Famers Tim Brown and Steve Largent to briefly tie Evans with 101 career TD receptions, but the Buccaneers standout found pay dirt twice to take ninth all time for himself again, while Adams sits firmly at 10th following his sensational Sunday.

It’s not the only leaderboard Adams is ascending, as he has now caught 81 touchdowns (including playoffs) from Rodgers, which surpassed the Pittsburgh Steelers tandem of Ben Roethlisberger and Antonio Brown for fourth in league chronicle.

Of course, most of those TD hookups came when they were with the Green Bay Packers.

Now the two are in a different shade of green and have produced five TDs together since Adams was acquired via trade from the Las Vegas Raiders.

Though the 31-year-old Adams and 41-year-old Rodgers are part of a Jets season that's fallen far short of expectations, they provided some highlights and history for one week at least.
