Josh Brent continues to find trouble.
The Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle -- currently awaiting trial in connection with a Dec. 8 car crash that killed teammate Jerry Brown -- is back behind bars in a Dallas County jail after a second positive drug test for marijuana, according to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport.
Brent surrendered himself Thursday morning. NBCDFW.com was the first to report Brent's return to jail.
Court documents state Brent was tested for marijuana on June 19. The positive report was confirmed one week later. Brent previously had failed a urine test taken after a May 24 court hearing.
Brent is accused of driving with a blood-alcohol content more than twice the legal limit at the time of the car crash that killed Brown, a Cowboys practice squad linebacker. Brent could be sentenced to up to 20 years in prison if convicted of intoxication manslaughter.
According to Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the Cowboys have no plans to cut Brent at this time. Brent is expected to be suspended by the NFL, and Dallas wants to retain his rights in the event he is able to play again. Hill says it's purely a football move for the Cowboys, not tied to compassion or charity.
It seems like an awful amount of rope given to a player who hasn't necessarily earned it, but we're not making the decisions in Big D.
