Kansas City Chiefs' Donald Washington charged with DUI

Kansas City Chiefs defensive back Donald Washington was arrested Thursday in Illinois and charged with driving under the influence of drugs, according to Effingham County court records.

Washington, who plays cornerback and safety, was stopped by Illinois State Police for speeding on Interstate 70 in central Illinois when an officer found drugs in his vehicle, according to the Effingham Daily News.

Washington also was charged with possession of 2.5 to 10 grams of cannabis and driving on a suspended license. The DUI and other charges are all misdemeanors.

He was arraigned on Friday morning and released from jail after posting bond, which was set at $20,000, local authorities confirmed to NFL.com. Washington has a scheduled hearing on Aug. 23.

Washington has played in 32 games in three seasons with the Chiefs, registering 52 tackles.
