If Andrew Billings becomes the NFL player Ndamukong Suh is -- minus, especially, the drama -- he'll be a draft prize no matter how high the junior is chosen, be that in 2016 or 2017.
There's reason to believe Billings will be that good, according to Kansas head coach David Beaty.
Beaty told FOX Sports that Billings, Baylor's underappreciated defensive tackle, is the best defensive lineman he's seen since Suh, the Miami Dolphins star, played at Nebraska. Beaty saw plenty of Suh in the Big 12, as Nebraska didn't move to the Big Ten until after Suh had left the school for the NFL.
FOX Sports' Bruce Feldman noted, as well, that multiple Big 12 coaches have indicated Billings is a better player than the more highly publicized pass rusher for the Bears, defensive end Shawn Oakman. Billings had a big game against West Virginia on Saturday with three tackles for loss, including a sack. In fact, he has more tackles for loss (9) this season than Oakman (7.5), who is in a better position to make them as a defensive end. Billings is also quite a presence in the weight room, and was selected as the nation's strongest player by College Football 24/7.
