Houston Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson re-tweaked his right ankle during Thursday night's 34-24 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, but an MRI exam the next day revealed no new damage, coach Gary Kubiak told reporters.
"Andre basically just re-tweaked his ankle, but all the preliminary tests we took this morning show nothing, no significant change in what we're looking at since he did it," Kubiak said.
Johnson limped off the field and into the locker room early in the second quarter against the Eagles. He returned, though, and promptly caught a 42-yard pass from Matt Schaub to help set up Houston's first touchdown.
Johnson, who has played with the injured ankle for much of the season, finished the game with six receptions for 149 yards.
"It's numb right now," Johnson told the team's official website after the game. "When I was playing before I came in (to the locker room), I was limping when I was out on the field, and I told them that I needed to do something if I was going to continue to play. We came in and numbed it up. When I came back, I looked like a new person. The rest of the game, I felt fine."
Kubiak also said Friday that defensive end Mario Williams, who has played every game this season, is battling a sports hernia.
"Obviously it's been bothering him, but he's been fighting through it for the team," Kubiac said. "I know it's bothering him, just watching him play last night, watching him try to fight through it. He had some injections on Wednesday in Philadelphia before the game. Sometimes it takes a few days for those injections to kick in. ...
"We'll continue to treat him the same way we've been doing it, trying to bring him along to each game day," the coach added. "I think he's trying to give us everything he's got, but it's obviously been bothering him."
