Le'Veon Bell's play leads Steelers to cut Isaac Redman

Le'Veon Bell's emergence over the last three weeks allowed the Pittsburgh Steelersto waive running back Isaac Redman on Monday.

Bell's 93-yard performance in Sunday's 19-16 win over the Baltimore Ravens validated the Steelers' evaluation of the running back when they took him in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft.

Bell was able to pound the ball up the middle against the Ravens' front and minimized the negative runs that plagued the Steelers early in the season.

Since coming off a foot injury that kept him out the first three weeks of the season, Bell has been far and away the Steelers' best back. His ability to create creases and gain yards behind an inconsistent offensive line has been evident.

Meanwhile, Redman initially was chosen over 2012 leading rusher Jonathan Dwyer, who was cut earlier this season but re-signed after injuries at the position. This time around, Redman was handed the Band-Aid. He ran for just 12 yards on 10 carries this season. Defining Redman's play the first three weeks of the season as merely ineffective would be kind. He had been inactive since Bell returned.
