Here are all the games involving SEC teams in Week 5, ranked from worst game to best.
8. UAB at Vanderbilt, Saturday, 7:30 p.m. ET, FSN
Rating: 0.5 stars
The skinny: For the second Vanderbilt game in a row, the only legitimate 2014 NFL draft prospects are on the Commodores' side. Start with wide receiver Jordan Matthews, who looks to start a new streak of 100-yard receiving games. He's been the most productive receiver in the SEC East this season, and it's not particularly close. Offensive lineman Wesley Johnson and cornerback Andre Hal are working to bolster NFL resumes, as well. Make no mistake, though -- Matthews is the pro prize on this team, and one scout told us he is well on his way to positioning himself as a top-50 pick.
QB rankings
Braxton Miller was to be a Heisman candidate leading Ohio State's run to BCS glory. Instead, Miller's backup replaces him in Bucky Brooks' college football QB rankings. **More ...**
7. Arkansas State at Missouri, Saturday, 7:30 p.m. ET, CSS
Rating: 0.5 stars
The skinny: Missouri defensive tackle Kony Ealy will have a hard time topping his big performance against Indiana last week, which included an interception for a touchdown. The passing connection of quarterback James Franklin and wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham is operating in high gear, as well. NFL.com's Bucky Brooks recently put Franklin back on the NFL radar. Missouri prospect E.J. Gaines is delivering a strong season at defensive back, too. The top prospects to watch for Arkansas State are defensive lineman Ryan Carrethers and running back David Oku.
6. South Alabama at Tennessee, Saturday, 12:21 p.m. ET, SECTV
Rating: 1 star
The skinny: The Vols look to rebound after two consecutive ugly losses -- to Oregon and Florida -- and take on an outmanned South Alabama team. For offensive linemen Antonio "Tiny" Richardson, James Stone and Ja'wuan James of Tennessee, this is the sort of game that can do little or nothing to improve their draft stock but could certainly hurt it if they leave their motivation in the dorm room.
5. South Carolina at UCF, Saturday, 12 p.m. ET, ABC
Rating: 1.5 stars
The skinny: Victor Hampton, a cornerback prospect for the Gamecocks, will be back on punt-return duty after taking a couple of games off. Defensive lineman E.J. Dunston is probably UCF's top prospect and will be looking for his second sack of the season against a massive South Carolina offensive front. Scouts will expect tackles Corey Robinson and Brandon Shell -- both NFL prospects, particularly Robinson -- to have their way with the UCF defensive ends. Golden Knights offensive tackle Chris Martin is a converted tight end and considered very athletic for the tackle position, which could make for some intrigue on speed moves by bone spur-hobbled Jadeveon Clowney if Clowney moves to the opposite side of the line to take on the UCF right tackle.
4. Florida at Kentucky, Saturday, 7 p.m. ET, ESPNU
Rating: 2.5 stars
The skinny: Florida's offensive line has been hampered by injury, and the top sack master in the division awaits them in the form of junior college transfer Za'Darius Smith (4.5 sacks). Smith could bring some pressure to new Florida quarterback Tyler Murphy, who has the athleticism to scramble away. Gators guard John Halapio and Wildcats linebacker Avery Williamson figure to square off a few times in what should be an interesting battle. Meanwhile, the Gators' defense brings a bevy of NFL prospects to Lexington: Cornerbacks Marcus Roberson and Loucheiz Purifoy, who will both be available after injuries kept them out of last week's game, pass rushers Ronald Powell and Dante Fowler, and linebacker Antonio Morrison among them. As for defensive lineman Dominique Easley, who knows?
3. Texas A&M at Arkansas, Saturday, 7 p.m. ET, ESPN2
Rating: 3 stars
The skinny: The Johnny Manziel Show returns to Southeastern Conference play this week and is sure to please once again after the quarterback dismantled SMU last week. Arkansas CB Tevin Mitchel is a decent pro prospect who figures to draw the assignment on massive Aggies WR Mike Evans. Mitchel is no bigger than the corners from Alabama that Evans destroyed, so it's a big chance for Mitchel to shine. Razorbacks center Travis Swanson, a Rimington Trophy candidate as one of the nation's top centers, will get to face a borderline pro prospect in Texas A&M's Kirby Ennis. The way Arkansas likes to run the ball downhill, Ennis could do a lot to grab the attention of scouts if he beats Swanson consistently in a smashmouth-style challenge.
2. Ole Miss at Alabama, Saturday, 6:30 p.m. ET, ESPN
Rating: 3.5 stars
The skinny: Top head-to-head matchups here include Alabama linebacker C.J. Mosley vs. Ole Miss running back Jeff Scott. While Scott's size (5-7, 162) has him off the NFL radar, his quickness in the open field will be a stiff test for Mosley's best skill: open-field tackling. Watch for Alabama defensive end Jeoffrey Pagan and pass-rusher Denzel Devall working against standout Ole Miss freshman left tackle Laremy Tunsil, who is by all accounts an NFL prospect in waiting. Finally, expect Rebels receiver Donte Moncrief and Alabama's top cornerback, Deion Belue, to have some nice battles, as well. A junior, Moncrief (6-3, 225) has a significant size advantage over Belue, a senior.
1. LSU at Georgia, Saturday, 3:30 p.m. ET, CBS
Ask 5
In advance of the LSU-Georgia game, Daniel Jeremiah asked NFL executives which QB -- Zach Mettenberger or Aaron Murray -- has more pro potential. **More ...**
Rating: 4 stars
The skinny: Prospects at every turn in this one, to be sure. LSU wide receivers Odell Beckham and Jarvis Landry are playing as well as any receiving tandem in the nation, and Georgia cornerback Damian Swann, among others, will be called on to slow them down. Georgia linebacker Jordan Jenkins will have his work cut out against a massive, talented LSU offensive front that includes a potential NFL left tackle in La'El Collins. Meanwhile, Tigers running back Jeremy Hill is coming off a game in which he shredded the Auburn defense. Expect LSU defensive tackles Ego Ferguson and Anthony Johnson to have their way with the interior of Georgia's offensive front. Meanwhile, Georgia's star running back, Todd Gurley, will try to make his way past one of the SEC's top linebackers in Lamin Barrow. And, oh yeah, both quarterbacks -- LSU's Zach Mettenberger and Georgia's Aaron Murray -- should be in the NFL in 2014, as well. It's a can't-miss college game for NFL fans seeking a peek at what may be available at almost any position of need.
