LSU's Ego Ferguson announces he will enter 2014 NFL Draft

LSU junior defensive tackle Ego Ferguson declared for the draft via his Instagram account Friday night. He is the second LSU defensive tackle to declare in as many days, joining Anthony Johnson.

"After talking to my parents and praying about this decision I decided to enter the 2014 NFL draft," he said in his post.

Ferguson (6-foot-3, 309 pounds) was a first-year starter this season and finished with 58 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and three pass breakups. He missed the Tigers' victory over Iowa in the Outback Bowl because of an illness.

While Ferguson is a good athlete, he isn't as athletic as Johnson. But Ferguson was more consistent than Johnson this season and probably will be taken earlier in the draft. Ferguson will test well in pre-draft workouts, but his tape isn't going to show many big plays, which could worry some scouts. But he has a good upside and was stout against the run this season, and it seems likely he could go in the second or third round because of his potential.

Other Tigers underclassmen considering the move to the NFL include running back Jeremy Hill, wide receivers Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry, guard Trai Turner and offensive tackle La'El Collins.
