Rumors and reports continue to connect Colin Kaepernick to the Denver Broncos, but each day that passes without a deal increases the chance no deal happens at all.
And if Kaepernick stays in San Francisco, that means there is a very strong chance the starting quarterback for the defending Super Bowl champions will be -- yep -- Mark Sanchez.
Sanchez's arrival in Denver is the latest twist in a fascinating career. The former Jets and Eagles quarterback told The Denver Post this week he hasn't fretted over the Kaepernick drama.
"Listen, I don't care who is there, what is going on right now," he said. "They are going to give me a fair shake, that's all I can ask for, a fair shot. I am good. Let's go. I will bet on myself and compete my butt off."
"I will be friendly and professional with whoever is there. But I want this bad. Really bad. I want what they experienced last year."
With the help of Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders, Sanchez organized a passing camp with Broncos skill players near his home in Southern California. The workouts were dubbed Broncos Beach, a twist on the old Jets West workouts of yesteryear.
Sanchez is putting in the extra work, fully aware the greatest opportunity of his career could be just around the corner. Who would have thought?
