NEW YORK -- Martellus Bennett is the runaway winner as the most entertaining athlete to talk to during Super Bowl week.
The Chicago Bears tight end truly is unique. To cite one excellent example, Bennett was the only guy walking around Radio Row this week wearing sweatpants and black leather gloves. If you follow Bennett on Twitter, you already knew he has a lot of interesting thoughts. When Around The League got a few minutes with him on Thursday, he did not disappoint.
Bennett is the younger brother of Seattle Seahawks defensive lineman Michael Bennett. Known for his game-changing plays this season, Bennett was a huge free-agent steal by Seahawks general manager John Schneider. Martellus is happy to see his brother receive the recognition he deserves.
"I know a lot of people have been talking about him the last couple weeks," Martellus said. "It's kind of like when you find out about a new band but the band's not really new. They've been making great music for a long time. But this is our first time hearing it, now you love this band.
"So I told him that's what it is for him right now. It's fun to see people finally get to hear his music."
What kind of music does Michael represent?
"He would probably be like a Jason Mraz," he said. "He loves them Hawaiian bands, like the ones that play banjos and s--- like that. He's like, 'Hey, I've got this great band from Hawaii!' I'm like, 'Oh, OK.'"
