San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh is still mum about whether he will be off to Michigan after the season. But the Michigan football official Twitter feed appears to be having a little more fun with the possibility.
Harbaugh, 51, is celebrating a birthday Tuesday. And Michigan was all over the chance to offer him best wishes.
Harbaugh, of course, is said to be the Wolverines' primary target -- if not the only target -- to replace Brady Hoke as its next football coach.
NFL Media's Ian Rapoport reported that Michigan offered Harbaugh a six-year, $48 million contract that would make him college football's highest-paid coach. And 49ers general manager Trent Baalke has confirmed that UM has at least made contact with the club regarding its interest in the former Wolverines quarterback.
Of course, the tweet says nothing about Harbaugh's candidacy for the job, or his willingness to take it.
But unless the account is also known to fire out birthday wishes to all of its former star players, one can only assume there is some underlying motivation -- or meaning -- here.
