Iowa State coach Paul Rhoads felt Texas scored a cheap victory over his team on Thursday night, and it also can't sit well with him that one of his players was on the receiving end of a hit many are calling a cheap shot.
As Texas running back Joe Bergeron finished off a 6-yard touchdown run to give the Longhorns a 23-20 lead with 4:30 left in the third quarter, Texas wide receiver Mike Davis targeted Iowa State defensive back Deon Broomfield away from the play and dove at Broomfield's left leg, knocking him to the ground.
Davis was flagged for a personal foul penalty, but he was not ejected from the game.
Davis, NFL Media senior analyst Gil Brandt's No. 1 senior wide receiver, is taking plenty of heat on social media, including calls for him to be suspended. He is not offering any apologies, though.
Broomfield had a slightly different take.
