Mike Goodson's season is over almost before it began.
The New York Jets running back confirmed the worst Monday, tweeting in detail about the knee injury he suffered in Sunday's 19-6 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers:
Goodson was hurt attempting to bring down Lawrence Timmons after the Steelerslinebacker picked offGeno Smith in the fourth quarter.
It ends a forgettable odyssey for the running back. Following a May arrest on charges of marijuana possession and weapons violations, Goodson was suspended without pay for the first four games of the season for violating the NFL's Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse.
Resurfacing for New York's Monday night win over the Atlanta Falcons in Week 5, Goodson rushed for 32 yards on three carries before gaining another 29 yards on four totes against the Steelers. He was another body in a backfield that now will rely heavily on Bilal Powell and Chris Ivory to carry the load.
That doesn't change much for the Jets. They've learned to live without Goodson from the start.
UPDATE: The Jetsannounced Tuesday that Goodson has been placed on IR.
