The Atlanta Falcons and defensive coordinator Mike Nolan agreed to a two-year contract extension on Sunday, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported, citing a source informed of the deal.
Nolan's old contract was due to expire.
Nolan, 54, enjoyed great success in 2012, his first season with the Falcons, leading the defense to a No. 5 ranking in points allowed as Atlanta racked up a 13-3 record and the top seed in the NFC.
The Falcons' defense stumbled this season, however, finishing 29th in points allowed as the team went 4-12.
