Nugent's contract was set to expire Monday, and without a new deal the 31-year-old kicker would have become an unrestricted free agent on Tuesday.
According to Bengals website editor Geoff Hobson, the Nugent deal indicates the Bengals won't re-sign Josh Brown, who replaced an injured Nugent in December and kicked the game-winning field goal against the Pittsburgh Steelers to send the Bengals into the playoffs.
Agent Ken Harris said Nugent's agreement is for two years.
Nugent is in his 10th season in the NFL and his fourth with the Bengals.
