The Saints are turning to a familiar face to bolster their receiving corps.
New Orleans is welcoming Joe Morgan back into the fold, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Thursday, per a source informed of the situation. It's an especially surprising move since Sean Payton and Co. rid themselves of the speedy receiver following a rocky tenure with the team.
Morgan was suspended two games last season following an unspecified violation of team rules. He was then waived in December. The move came after Payton brought more than 10 players into his office for individual review.
The Saints, of course, were considered Super Bowl contenders heading into the season but flopped on their way to a 7-9 season.
With Jimmy Graham and Kenny Stills gone, Morgan has a change to compete for snaps as Drew Brees' No. 3 target behind Marques Colston and Brandin Cooks.
