The New York Giants held a players-only meeting Monday morning in which everyone was allowed to voice any/all of their thoughts.
While the Giants sit atop the NFC East with a 6-4 record coming off a Week 11 bye, they've lost their last two games and face a daunting schedule to close out the regular season.
The Giants used these type of "debriefing" sessions in 2011, a technique learned from U.S. Air Force pilots that visited the team.
"It was us just going over some things that we'd like to see changed," defensive end Justin Tuck said, via The Star Ledger. "It's something that we did last year, and we're hoping to build on a little bit. All players just going in, and being able to clear the air about what we feel can make this team better, that's all.
"I think everybody on this team feels that we can be the best team in the league when we're playing our style of football. It's just unfortunate that we haven't played our style of football the last couple weeks. We have to find a way to get back to playing that, because it's going to be needed leading up to these next weeks. But confidence, no, I think we've always been very confident. Sometimes maybe too confident -- borderline cocky a little bit."
The Giants hold a one-game advantage on a sporadic Dallas Cowboys team in the NFC East. The week off is expected to help quarterback Eli Manning's alleged arm issues.
There's no room to mess around in the final six weeks starting with a Sunday night matchup against the Green Bay Packers, followed by the division-rival Washington Redskins, a surging New Orleans Saints squad, the Atlanta Falcons, Baltimore Ravens and Philadelphia Eagles left on the schedule. If the Giants needed to talk things out amongst themselves, this was the time to do it.
