There were plenty of fantasy surprises in Week 2 of the NFL season -- both good and bad. But you, dear reader, are only here for the best of the best. So let's dispense with the yakkity-yak and give you this week's top five fantasy scorers.
Points based on standard scoring in NFL.com fantasy football leagues
5. Eli Manning, QB, New York Giants (26.20 fantasy points)
Manning's day didn't start particularly well as the New York Giants QB threw three interceptions. But he made up for it with 510 passing yards and three touchdown tosses in Big Blue's come-from-behind 41-34 win. Manning and the Giants have a short week and a trip to Carolina to match up with the Panthers on Thursday Night Football in Week 3.
4. Trent Richardson, RB, Cleveland Browns (26.50 fantasy points)
In Week 2, Trent Richardson looked like the back the Cleveland Browns moved up in the draft to select. The rookie from Alabama rushed 109 yards and a touchdown while catching four passes for 36 yards and a second score in a 34-27 loss. Fantasy football owners can breathe a small sigh of relief after Richardson's forgettable first week. Next week, the Browns host the Buffalo Bills, who have been a mixed bag defensively in the first two weeks.
3. C.J. Spiller, RB, Buffalo Bills (29.00 fantasy points)
Officially no longer a sleeper, Spiller makes the list for a second straight week. The Buffalo Bills back led the way in a 35-17 rout of the Kansas City Chiefs with 123 rushing yards, two rushing scores and three catches for 47 yards. Spiller had been closing the gap with Fred Jackson, but with Jackson still out of action, is it possible that FJax could lose his gig? That remains to be seen, but Spiller has another favorable matchup in Week 3 with a trip to face the Cleveland Browns.
2. Robert Griffin III, QB, Washington Redskins (30.44 fantasy points)
For the second straight week, RG3 locks down the No. 2 spot on the countdown. The Washington Redskins rookie eclipsed his Week 1 point total by throwing for 206 yards and a touchdown to go along with 82 rushing yards and two more scores in a 31-28 defeat. Griffin will try to go 3-for-3 in solid fantasy football performances next week when the Redskins host the Cincinnati Bengals in Washington's home opener. The Bengals were torched by Brandon Weeden for more than 21 fantasy points in Week 2.
1. Reggie Bush, RB, Miami Dolphins (31.70 fantasy points)
Ever since leaving New Orleans, Bush has become a fantasy commodity. The Miami Dolphins running back torched the Oakland Raiders in Week 2, rushing for 172 yards (second-highest single game total in his career) and two touchdowns in Miami's . Just in case that wasn't enough, Bush also caught three passes for another 25 yards. The gravy train could hit a speed bump in Week 3, since the Dolphins welcome the New York Jets to south Florida. Gang Green's defense is a lot less forgiving than the Silver and Black. But for this week, Bush earns our #KABOOM of the week honor.
