The NFL upheld an appeal filed by Shaun Smith and rescinded a $10,000 fine assessed to the Chiefs' defensive lineman for allegedly grabbing an opponent's groin, *The Kansas City Star* reported Thursday.
Smith was fined by the league after he was accused of grabbing San Francisco 49ers offensive tackle Anthony Davis' groin area during the Chiefs' 31-10 victory Sept. 26.
"He tried to feel me. That's weird, right?" Davis said afterward, according to Comcast SportsNet Bay Area.
Browns center Alex Mack accused Smith of grabbing his genitals during the Chiefs' 16-14 victory one week earlier, telling *The Cleveland Plain Dealer* after the game: "I don't think he should be able to do that. I'm still fired up about it."
The Star reported that Art Shell, the NFL's appeal officer, sent a letter to Smith confirming that video of the Davis incident, which was widely blogged about, was inconclusive.
"I fought the case, and I'm happy," Smith told the newspaper. "But (it doesn't erase) all the bashing of my name and all that stuff. I have kids, and my kids looked at it.
"I was just happy to get it resolved. It was hanging over my head since Week 3, and now it's not. People accuse you of stuff all the time. Stuff like this happens all the time. That's why you have the appeal process to go through, to get everything the right way."
