One of the key elements in the Heads Up Football program is a change in tackling form for youth football. The NFL is making changes in that area as well.
The Associated Press looked at how the league is trying to reteach tackling techniques to make the game safer. The league has started by getting tougher with fines on players who lead with their heads and suspending repeat offenders like Dashon Goldson.
Defenders claim that wide receivers and running backs are going too fast to take down with a traditional arm-wrap tackle. They do not want to be fined for hitting in the head, so some now are going low at the legs.
