NEW YORK -- The NFL players' union has canceled its weekly conference call, scuttling a planned discussion about HGH testing.
Many members of the NFLPA executive committee were traveling Wednesday or preparing for their final preseason game, prompting the cancellation. Human growth hormone testing was to be one of several topics on the call.
Union officials said last week they had not received data from the World Anti-Doping Agency that would make them feel comfortable with the testing. They are seeking additional information about the test's reliability and safety.
The NFL would be the first of the major American professional sports leagues to implement HGH testing.
