Alabama coach Nick Saban did what he could to put the latest Saban-to-Texas rumor to rest a day after The Associated Press reported his agent indicated Texas would be the only job for which the coach would leave the Crimson Tide.
"Well I don't know where these reports come from," Saban told ESPN's Tom Rinaldi. "I've sort of addressed the situation before. I'm totally committed to the University of Alabama, looking forward to the game we have this week and all my focus has been on LSU and what our team needs to do to play their best."
On Tuesday, the AP reported an email from former Texas regent Tom Hicks, which it obtained through an open-records request, described a phone conversation with agent Jimmy Sexton in which Sexton confirmed the Longhorns would be Saban's only avenue out of Tuscaloosa.
Reportedly, Hicks and another Texas regent, Wallace Hall, inquired with Sexton in September about whether Saban would be interested in coaching the Longhorns. Saban, now in his seventh season at Alabama -- his longest stretch as a head coach anywhere by at least two years -- has repeatedly said that he is "too damned old" to change coaching jobs again.
