Niners LT Staley reportedly cleared to play Monday night

San Francisco 49ers left tackle Joe Staley has been cleared by the team's medical staff to play in Monday night's showdown with the Pittsburgh Steelers, a source told Comcast SportsNet Bay Area.

Staley sustained a concussion during last week's loss to the Arizona Cardinals, but he was able to participate in a Saturday walk-through while wearing his helmet. Staley, who's listed as questionable for Monday's game, said he hoped to be fully cleared Sunday.

"You've got to go through the steps," Staley said Saturday. "I've been passing all the steps, doing well. It's still in the doctor's hands. I have no real say in this. It's all protocol."

Backup Alex Boone took over for Staley against the Cardinals and took reps with the first-team offense during practice Thursday and Friday, but CSN Bay Area reported Staley should start against the Steelers.

Pro Bowl linebacker Patrick Willis, who didn't practice at all last week, is listed as questionable for the 49ers. Wide receiver Braylon Edwards (knee) and fullback Bruce Miller (knee) are also questionable but expected to play.
