Despite a sputtering offense, don't expect Trevor Siemian to lose his starting gig in Denver just yet.
NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Sunday that no quarterback change is imminent, per sources informed of Broncos coach Gary Kubiak's thinking.
The Broncos own the 28th ranked offense this season, earning 323.5 total yards per game, down from 355.5 last season.
While there has been some grumbling about making a change at quarterback -- especially locally -- don't expect to see a change soon. Siemian is completing 59.8 percent of his passes with 10 TDs, five interceptions and 7.1 average yards per pass. Even with recent struggles after returning from a shoulder injury, the second-year quarterback is still performing more efficiently than the Peyton Manning-Brock Osweiler tandem of 2015. Siemian owns a 86.2 passer rating -- the 2015 Broncos QBs put up a 76.3 rating.
Kubiak believes Siemian is the team's best option right now. There are other issues -- lack of running success, struggles on the line -- harming the offense. Those struggles are greater than nitpicking Siemian.
Paxton Lynch will be the future, but the rookie showed he wasn't quite ready yet in an inconsistent Week 5 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. As long as Siemian remains healthy, he'll get the chance to turn the ship around.
