Voters on NFL.com have made their choice. Wide receiver Denarius Moore of the Oakland Raiders is the Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week for games played on Sept. 18-19, the NFL announced Friday.
Moore hauled in five passes for 146 yards and a score, and had one rush for 25 yards in the Raiders' 38-35 loss to the Buffalo Bills.
After the regular season, five players will be nominated for Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Year honors. Fans can vote for the winner on NFL.com/rookies throughout the month of January. The winner will be announced at a press conference at Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis.
PEPSI ROOKIE OF THE WEEK NOMINEES
Andy Dalton, Cincinnati Bengals
Dalton completed 27 of 41 passes for 332 yards and two touchdowns in the Bengals' 24-22 loss to the Denver Broncos.
Mason Foster, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Foster recorded 10 tackles, including seven solo stops, one sack and one forced fumble in the Bucs' 24-20 victory over the Minnesota Vikings.
Denarius Moore, Oakland Raiders
Moore had 171 total yards from scrimmage on Sunday, catching five balls for 146 yards and one touchdown, and also rushing the ball once for 25 yards in the Raiders' 38-35 loss to the Buffalo Bills.
Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers
Newton threw for 432 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions, and had 10 carries for 53 yards and one score in the Panthers' 30-23 loss to the Green Bay Packers. With his effort, Newton became the first quarterback to start his career with consecutive 400-yard games.
Daniel Thomas, Miami Dolphins
Thomas carried the ball 18 times for 107 yards and caught one pass for 10 yards in the Dolphins' 23-13 loss to the Houston Texans.
This is Pepsi's 10th year as the official soft drink sponsor of the NFL and the 10th year that Pepsi will present the NFL Rookie of the Week and NFL Rookie of the Year awards.
