Ohio State quarterback Cardale Jones has been released from the hospital and is "doing fine," the school announced in a statement on Thursday.
Jones was examined Wednesday night at Ohio State's Wexner Medical Center, per the school. He was rushed to the hospital with a severe headache, his mother told The Toledo Blade.
Jones' mother, Florence, told The Blade in a text message that he remained in the emergency room as of late Wednesday as a precaution, writing that "He is good."
Buckeyes head coach Urban Meyer said Thursday that Jones will be limited in practice, per ESPN's Austin Ward.
Jones, a redshirt junior, is competing against J.T. Barrett for the Buckeyes' starting QB job after leading the team to three straight postseason wins on the way to a national title last season. Jones replaced Barrett as the team's starter in 2014 after Barrett suffered a broken ankle in the regular-season finale.
Meyer said Thursday that he will inform the quarterbacks Saturday about his decision on who'll start the season opener, according to The Columbus Dispatch's Bill Rabinowitz.
No. 1-ranked Ohio State opens the 2015 season on Monday at Virginia Tech.
